The Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies covers all periods of Hebrew (Classical, Medieval and Modern) and has a focus in particular on language and literature. Many of the staff and students who work on Hebrew also have interests in closely related North-West Semitic languages, in particular Aramaic, and Arabic, especially Judaeo-Arabic, i.e. Arabic written by Jews in Hebrew script.
