Forum Meetings

Forum Meetings are normally held once a term, as advertised at the beginning of the term. They are open to all those interested in Jewish Studies, members of the Forum and non-members alike. Cambridge visitors and students are also welcome. The presentations are dedicated to the recent research and tend to have an informal character.

CFJS Lent term meeting

This term, we will hear the following presentations: Dr Daniel Weiss (Faculty of Divinity) on 'The social-political implications of a disembodied or non-disembodied understanding of 'image of God' in Maimonides and classical rabbinic literature' Dr Chana Morgenstern (Faculty of English) on 'A People's Literature of Palestine/Israel: Fiction as Counter-History and Social Text (1948–1963)'

Forum Michaelmas Meeting

Dr. Michael Rand will talk about a new AHRC project to prepare a critical edition of the Mishnah and Dr. Yaron Peleg will talk about his new book Directed by God: Jewishness in Contemporary Israeli Film and Television. This will be followed by a launch reception for Yaron's book.
