February Update

We are releasing nearly five hundred additional fragments in our Cairo Genizah Collection, bringing the total number online to over sixteen thousand. Of particular interest is T-S 6J7.3, a letter from a man to his father, probably written after King Louis IX's Crusade was launched against Egypt. The writer refers to sudden announcements by the Muslim authorities of restrictions imposed on Christians and Jews, requiring them to wear distinctive clothing in the street on pain of forfeiture of life and property. Also included is T-S NS 98.73, a handy (quite literally) guide for calendar calculations using the fingers.
