The Woolf Institute continues its termly seminar in Muslim-Jewish Relations.

The theme for Lent Term will be Film and art in Israel Palestine and include contributions

from the following speakers:

Yael Friedman is a lecturer in film theory and documentary film
practice at University of Portsmouth. Her research interests include
Israeli and Palestinian cinemas, transnational film studies and
documentary theory and practice.

Stefanie Van de Peer is Teaching Fellow in Global Cinema at the
University of Stirling. She specialises in women's filmmaking in the
Arab world, thinking through the strategies used by filmmakers to
elicit solidarity between their subjects and spectators. She has
published articles and two edited collections, and is currently
finalising a manuscript for her first monograph, entitled 'The
Pioneering Women of Arab Documentary' for publication with Edinburgh
University Press.

Gabriel Varghese is a theatre-maker and the co-artistic director of
Sandpit Arts. He is currently a doctoral candidate in drama at the
University of Exeter. His research looks at the effects of the Israeli
occupation on Palestinian theatre production.
