Film: The Five Houses of Lea Goldberg
This event is a collaboration with Jewish Book Week 2014 and brings
Israeli film-maker Yair Qedar to Cambridge with his documentary, The
Five Houses of Lea Goldberg (2011). The film is dedicated to the work
and life of one of Israel’s best-loved poets, Lea Goldberg. Qedar’s
lyrical approach matches the magical and innovative use of language
that characterised his subject.
The film will be followed by Q & A with the director, Yair Qedar, an
Israeli filmmaker, civil-rights activist and cultural critic. His
academic background in 20th century Hebrew literature propelled him
into his life’s work: The Hebrews— a trans-media project on the Hebrew
literary canon, centered around filmic portraits of the great Hebrew
writers.
